The padding sits right where the metal ring used to press, and my dog stopped scratching at his neck within a day. It's soft enough that he doesn't even seem to notice it's there.
The collar used to chafe that spot right behind her ears, but since I swapped in these 3/4-inch covers, she's stopped scratching at it entirely. The conductive silicone keeps the contact point working while clearly padding the metal away from her skin, and I've already ordered a second set.
