L'IFR PHMSA di marzo 2019 ha armonizzato le normative statunitensi sul trasporto di batterie agli ioni di litio con quelle dell'ICAO, con requisiti aggiuntivi per le spedizioni via terra per garantire che nessuna batteria agli ioni di litio fosse caricata su aeromobili in violazione delle normative.
